Rep. Mike Gilman is always interested in your concerns. Here he is visiting Granite State Independent Living's North Country office at the Chamber reception. Rep. Gilman heard of the local efforts to bring accessibility to all disabled of all ages in the vicinity.
Rep. Gilman also addressed the gathering to bring updates of his upcoming legislation, especially a bill that would allow high school credit for the study of American Sign Language as a foreign language credit for graduation. A bill that would help the hearing impaired be less isolated and also prepare the way for more students to choose the career of sign language interpreter, a field experiencing a shortage of qualified candidates.
Rep.Gilman spoke with local and state advocates of accessibility about their concerns and his activities to help the people access services, find worthy work and to retain appropriate benefits. Laurel explained her efforts to change people's attitudes about the disabled and improve the social comfort of the both the disabled and the public. |
